Laura and I had been talking about making her wedding dress quite far in advance of her wedding dress and we already had the designs sorted for a slinky silk number. We were half way through making the pattern when Laura asked us to put a hole on the dress for a while. It was all very mysterious until she revealed a few months later that she was unexpectedly pregnant.

We went back to the drawing board and came up with a new concept for the dress that would allow room for a 5 month baby bump without swamping her. She’d liked some of the heavier lace options we’d previously looked at and she really liked some 70’s style details. We went to a lace supplier to pick out something together and a gorgeous cotton guipure lace caught her attention. The same supplier also had a beautiful trim that complimented the main lace perfectly and so we were all set to go.

We came up with a plan for doing the major fittings as close to the wedding as possible to ensure the fit over the bump was good.

Here are a few photos from the day.
